    Development over scoreboard

Every session is built around growth, not the final score — players are challenged at their own pace.

  • 02

    Small coach-to-player ratios

Real, individual instruction — not just a whistle and a scrimmage.

  • 03

    Screened, experienced coaches

Every coach is background-checked before ever stepping on the court with your child.

A community, not just a league

Basketball Basics is a registered not-for-profit — built by families, for families.

Cost should never be why a kid sits out.

Phenoms families can access grants through the Trevor Barton Memorial Foundation and Canadian Tire Jumpstart — no child turned away for financial need.

What families are saying

From families who have been here a season, and families who have been here a decade.

Liliana

Our son has been part of the Basketball Basics / Phenoms Basketball house league program for several years and played competitively this past season. We’ve seen tremendous improvement in his skills, confidence, and understanding of the game year after year.

The volunteer coaches are incredible—knowledgeable, supportive, encouraging, and genuinely invested in each child’s development. They create a positive environment that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship while making basketball fun.

We highly recommend Phenoms Basketball to any family looking for a program that truly helps young athletes grow, whether they’re just starting out or looking to take their game to the next level.

I.R.

Our son started basketball here when he was just 5 years old, and now at 14, it’s been incredible to see how much he has grown, not just as a player, but as a person.

He wasn’t naturally athletic when he started, but the coaches believed in him, encouraged him, and gave him the confidence to keep improving. Through patience, great coaching, and a positive environment, he developed skills, discipline, and a genuine love for the game.

Looking back, we’re so grateful we chose this program. The progress he’s made over the years is something we’re truly proud of, and we highly recommend it to any family looking for a place where kids are supported, challenged, and given the opportunity to grow at their own pace.

New to Phenoms

My son was on a different team that did not challenge him or give him individualized coaching. We joined the Phenoms organization and he thrived with the challenges as the coach would challenge them on the court but also off the court to develop values and habits that would benefit them for life.

He quickly advanced under their coaching reaching a high potential and learned how to work as a team to better his skill and team play. I am confident about my son being with the Phenom organization for years to come to become a better player and a better person.
